my boring life

Archive for 200804     ( return to current blog )

 I was tagged

So I'll start with the copy & pasted questions (as per the rules):

QUESTIONS:
1. Why do you blog?
I started to do this on a whim. I thought it would be a good way to meet people.

2. Scariest moment in your life?
That would be about 20 years ago when I was with the ex-husband. He was at the bar on a Friday (he basically lived there on the week-end) It was late and I thought I heard a noise downstairs so I left the lights off (3am no hubby as he was having an affair) and went to investigate. I saw that someone was turning the front locked door knob. I went to the kitchen and got a knife. I walked into the living room to look out the window and before I got there the window was broken. I screamed, neighbours heard me. Long story short hubby had guns, he finally showed up after one of his friends came to help, accused the guy of screwing me. Guy left, we heard someone walking in the glass outside, hubby loaded gun and told me to call the police. Swat team took him out, put him in a car, I had to go out in a bathrobe, nothing on underneath. Spent the next 4 hours in the police station talking to the police in my bathrobe. They never found out who did it.

3. Top 5 songs on your iPod? (if you don't have an iPod, just give your 5 favorite songs)

  Journey- Separate Ways

   Asia- Heat of the Moment
38 Special- caught up in you
Loverboy- Queen of the Broken Hearts

Foreigner- Feels Like the First Time

4. What are your interests/hobbies?
I love to read, watch sci fi, ove the tv shows House, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Atlantis. I also love playing two kitties and doing things around the house.

5. What do you hope to accomplish in the next 5 years?

Find a new home, buy another car, find a new job and finally win the lottery. LOL

Now for the fun part.

I did my part, thanks Bry for tagging me, now it is your turn Buffy.

 update

I haven't talked to my mother yet but the newspapers etc are not painting a pretty picture. The town cannot handle another closure. I previously worked at a furniture factory in the town that closed about 16 years ago. It was a factory that was in business for a very long time. The other major factory in the town in on shaky legs at the best of times. The factory that my mom works in is a very well known company. Over 400 people will be out of work.

My mom got some bad news

Well first off let me tell you that it will not affect her to bad. The plant she works at will be closing within a year. She is retiring in September so it isn't that bad for her. She has to go to a meeting on Tuesday and Thursday and is off work until May 5th. She has to find out about the early retirement thing and how this will affect her pension. The place has been open for 48 year. In fact my father was one of the first employees. There will be 500 people out of jobs. The worst thing is that some husbands and wives work there together so they are both losing jobs.

They had a meeting today before the news release was given to the media. Two people had to be taken to hospital by ambulance with chest pains or something like that. My mother has been expecting this for a while but it still hit her. I asked why she was upset about it as she is retiring this year. She is worried for the younger ones and where they are going to find work. I told her that she has to worry about herself and just herself, there is no sense in her getting worked up over other people. My mom can work herself into quite a state sometimes.

Other then that my day was good. I stopped and bought some stuff to try and help me sleep so hopefully tonight will be the night for sleep. I am waiting for Bones to come on and then House. God I love Hugh Lauries' character House. Anyways I will post tomorrow about how things are going with my quest for sleep and my mothers work.

 Friday

I feel so exhausted lately. I am having a hard time sleeping and keep waking up. I long for the days when I could sleep for 9 hours solid at a time, ahh to be a teen again. I do not want to use sleeping pills but I thing tonight I will. I just need some SLEEP I have tried everything but nothing works so it is the pills tonight.

Work is really getting busy. The orders are flying out the door and hopefully I will be soon to. A friend of mine is trying to get me into her work. It pays almost 3 dollars an hour more to start and gets up to 5 dollars more in a year. With the raising gas prices I need to get a job where you get a raise and is a little close to home.

I am waiting to see if I get the thunderstorm that is suppose to come tonight. I am terrified of the storms. It is not so bad if it is light out but a thunderstorm at night freaks me out, always has. I stick my head under the covers in bed and try to fall asleep. If it isn't bedtime I turn almost every light on in the house. I know, I know there is nothing to be afraid of but I cannot help it.

 another day in paradise

Work has been so busy lately, not that I am complaining. I would rather have it busy then slow, the day goes faster. Well the cameras are up and so far only 50% of them are actually wired up and working. The other ones just have to be attached to the ceiling, and the wires attached. The wiring was put in place a few weeks ago but then the plant manager basically refused to do the cameras. He spent countless hours doing the wiring and then told the owners he did not agree with it. Looks like he did not get his way with that.

I am so sick of trying to decide to sell and move or stay here. the pros of here are, close to work, garage, large driveway, get along with the owners of the other side of the semi. The cons are backyard needs a fence, big driveway so all the kids play in it and I have to fight to get in my driveway, no back deck, and I really do not get along with the neighbours on the other side. No that is not quite right, it is their daughters boyfriend who is one of the loudest, obnoxious know it alls that I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. They spend all summer standing or sitting in the garage drinking beer. On the weekends it is not even 9 am and they are already out there drinking. He talks at the top of his voice so everyone half a block away can hear him. He stands in my driveway with his greasy long hair, black leather skullcap shirtless and holding a beer while he talks to the neighbour I get along with. The good neighbour even asked him to quiet down one night. HMMM, now that I see it written down maybe it is not such a hard choice. I think a visit to the bank is in order to see how much they are willing to give me. I will keep you posted.
