Well it looks like she will be okay. They are phasing out lines one at a time and as your line stops, you are terminated. She may be retiring in June or July instead of Sept. The one good thing is she will still get her full company pension. They are paying everyone for this whole week even though they are off right now while they have the meetings. So my mom worked for 7 hours on monday, went to an hour and a half meeting and she will get paid for 80hrs.
The one thing I do not agree with is the way they are telling people their jobs are done. Instead of saying to them "your line is done by such and such a date" they are mailing the persons separation papers to their homes two weeks before their last working day. At least tell them face to face. The part timers are all gone already and were told to register with the local employment placement agency for when the company will get busier. Some people who are retiring in the next few years will get their full pensions also.
All I can say that in the towm no one is saying M'mm M'mm good.
